I offer online therapy for immigrants, refugees, and expat families navigating the emotional and psychological challenges of relocation in Arabic and English, wherever in the world you are based.

As an immigrant myself, I bring both personal understanding and over 15 years of clinical experience to this work. I have supported individuals and families through resettlement across Egypt, the UK, and many cities worldwide through my online practice.

The emotional reality of relocating

Moving to a new country, whether by choice or by necessity, brings with it a profound and often contradictory mix of emotions. There is grief over the loss of familiar places, people, and routines that shaped who you are. There is anxiety about the unknown: a new language, a new culture, a new system to find your way through. And alongside all of this, there is often excitement and hope about the possibilities that lie ahead.

These emotions do not cancel each other out. Many immigrants and refugees find themselves holding all of them at once, sometimes without a space to fully process what they are going through, or even the words to describe it. Therapy offers exactly that space.

Supporting individuals and families through resettlement

Every person's experience of migration is deeply personal, shaped by the circumstances of the move, the culture left behind, and the new environment being entered. Within families, these experiences can vary widely, particularly across generations.

Children often adapt differently from their parents. Teenagers may feel caught between two cultural identities, neither fully belonging to one world nor the other. and parents frequently carry the weight of the decision to relocate while also trying to hold their family together through the transition. And for those who moved alone, the absence of familiar support systems can make everything feel harder to bear.

I work with individuals and families at every stage of resettlement, helping to:

  • Process the grief of leaving behind a home, community, or way of life

  • Manage anxiety, low mood, and stress related to the transition

  • Navigate cultural identity and the challenges of belonging

  • Address past difficulties that have been surfaced or triggered by the move

  • Strengthen family relationships under the pressure of resettlement

  • Find a balance between preserving cultural roots and integrating into a new environment

Planned moves and forced displacement

The experience of a planned relocation moving for work, education, or family is very different from that of forced displacement driven by conflict, persecution, or urgent necessity. Both are significant life events, and both deserve proper support.

I have worked with refugees and asylum seekers as well as migrants across many countries and contexts. I understand that the nature of the move shapes the psychological experience in important ways and my approach is always tailored to your specific circumstances, history, and cultural background.

The experience of Arab immigrants

A significant part of my work has been with Arab individuals navigating life in Western countries dealing not only with the practical challenges of resettlement but also with questions of identity, belonging, faith, and cultural continuity.

I have a deep understanding of Arab culture, family dynamics, and the particular pressures faced by those who feel caught between the values of their home culture and the expectations of the society they have moved into. This understanding is not something I have only read about it is something I have lived.

My approach to therapy for immigrants and refugees

I offer a culturally responsive and integrative approach drawing on client-centred, narrative therapy, psychodynamic methods, and creative techniques depending on what feels most helpful for you. Every session is adapted to your unique story, pace, and background.

Sessions are fully online in Arabic or English, making it possible to work together no matter what language you feel comfortable with. Whether you have just arrived somewhere new or have been navigating life between cultures for years, I can help.

We begin with assessment sessions to understand your situation fully, after which we build a personalised plan together at your pace.

Wherever you are in the world and whatever brought you there — you do not have to process this alone. I understand what it means to rebuild, and I am here to help you find your way forward.
